KOKO is proud to be selected as the overall winner of the 2021 Financial Times and IFC Transformational Business Awards.
This followed winning our category of Transformational Climate Change and Technology Solutions. We applaud our inspiring fellow finalists, all of whom are doing phenomenal work in their own fields.
We're grateful to the judging panel for this recognition of the dedication and excellence of 1,000 colleagues in Kenya and India in bringing an affordable, safe and modern cooking solution to more than a million Kenyans each day. We're growing fast in Nairobi and are preparing to roll out this solution across Kenya.
Kenya is just the start. Every year, the charcoal industry in Africa drives 5 million acres of deforestation, 1 billion tons of carbon emissions, and hundreds of thousands of deaths from indoor air pollution.
The only way to reverse this destruction is to unleash and combine the power of technology, capital and consumer demand. So many emerging markets need a renewable clean cooking fuel that delivers consumers a major uplift in quality of life at an affordable cost (and with no government funding). This is what KOKO delivers, every day.
